Our Medical Assistants
Our medical assistants are trained and continuously educated in allergy and asthma care by Dr. Kerwin, Dr. Parks, and Dr. Israelsen. They take vitals, perform allergy skin testing, patch testing, lung function testing and administer allergen extract injections. They help educate patients on allergen avoidance and prescribed medications.
Dust mite reduction programs have been shown to reduce symptoms and medication requirements in house dust mite allergic children and adults. These strategies include polyurethane dust mite-proof pillow and mattress covers, weekly hot water washing of bedding, and exclusion of furred and feathered pets from the sleeping area.
