WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT
When you have an initial consultation with one of our providers, you can expect a comprehensive evaluation of your condition. We will begin with a history of your medical conditions, including any allergy, asthma, or immunologic problems. Our focus is to improve your life and prevent complications relating to your illness. As such, we believe that you are the best source of information leading to an efficient diagnostic and treatment algorithm. We listen carefully, review your current medications/supplements, family history, social and environmental history, and we perform a careful physical exam.
Skin testing to clarify environmental and sometimes food or stinging insect allergies is often used to better direct preventive and therapeutic strategies. We sometimes implement lung function testing in patients with suspected or diagnosed asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This procedure, called spirometry, is a rapid non-invasive measurement of your lung function and helps determine what therapies may or may not be indicated for you.
Other diagnostic procedures and lab work may be utilized to direct our therapy and to give you the necessary information to make decisions about your care.

Dust mite reduction programs have been shown to reduce symptoms and medication requirements in house dust mite allergic children and adults. These strategies include polyurethane dust mite-proof pillow and mattress covers, weekly hot water washing of bedding, and exclusion of furred and feathered pets from the sleeping area.
